Tonight at 10 FOX43 News is claiming to have a story about the FAA now requiring Quadcopters, Drones and UAV’s (take your pick of your favorite term!) to be insured as well as registered. The resulting punishments from the FAA apparently could include anything from fines to jail time!

We have been investigating these claims since we saw the story but have not been able to find word one about this anywhere else (including from the FAA themselves) so we will have to wait and hear where this news is coming from tonight. We already know the FAA requires any quadcopter, drone and UAV to be registered is it weighs more than half a pound, we expected to hear about insurance.
