A Sneak Peak at Snapdragon Flight
We have been anxiously waiting for the new Snapdragon Flight from Qualcomm and we can finally get a sneak peak at some of the available features on these small and inexpensive quadcopters.
A new video from Qualcomm gives a sneak peak at the Snapdragon Flight’s capabilities demonstrating a drone autonomously dodging obstacles and mapping out 3D spaces with built-in sensors.
The video looks cool but what about the specifics? One of the biggest points to be made with the new Snapdragon Flight is that Qualcomm says it will MORE than halve the average price of 4k camera drones. This is a pretty major statement and it has all of us pretty excited for its release. Qualcomm’s Raj Talluri was quoted as saying “We believe that, with this chip, we can cut the price of the average 4k camera drone from $1,200 down to $300 or $400”. Expect to get a better look than the sneak peak we got at the coming CES (Consumer Electronics Show) next week.
On top of the decrease in price, due to the light weighting of the new chip, Raj Talluri stated that the battery life can be extended from 20 minutes of flight time up to as much as 45 to 60 minutes of flight time. This will open them up to a large audience of users and a host of new uses.
